Hottie alert!

I just wanted to post these pics to document Brad buying a grill he wanted for his birthday this Wednesday. The fact that there is also a guy in the picture with a ponytail, flip-flops, and shirt completely unbuttoned in public is purely a coincidence ; ) It's no mullet, but I find it equally entertaining. You have to be hot stuff to walk around with your shirt like that. Props for the confidence sir!

But seriously, Brad already had a grill that he uses all of the time, but he wanted a Weber charcoal grill so he could do mesquite grilled steaks. And mmm-mmm-mmmmmmmm they were delicious!

At the end of August our best buddies Lana and Curtis are coming to visit! Our Rockband shall reunite!...I call drums.

My kind of Summer

Brad and I still can't believe how great the weather has been all summer in TN. There are a lot of things we miss about Texas, but the heat is not one of them. This weekend we went to Stan's (Brad's favorite BBQ place) for lunch on the patio...and dare I say it was a little chilly outside. Seriously people, it was 70 degrees and sunny at noon in the middle of the summer!

Pickin' Peaches

Our doggie Dallas is just slightly spoiled, but one thing we haven't budged on is feeding him people food. Dallas found a nice little work-around for that rule. Just the other day I was in the backyard with him and I turned around to see him pulling peaches off of the tree. Now that he has managed to pick all the lower peaches, he is jumping up to grab the higher ones. The funniest part is when he tries to sneak them in the house. He wraps his frisbee around it so I can't see what he is doing. So we aren't going to feed him people food, but I'm not going to stop his obsession with pickin' peaches...well, because it's so darn cute.

Why didn't I think of that?

I do recall having a vehicle without air conditioning at one point in my life. I vividly remember driving home for the summer after my freshman year at Baylor. I made the drive from Waco, TX to Roswell, NM with no A/C. I had an awesome half-sunburned body from riding with the window down. If only I had been as clever as this guy:

Happy Aniversary to us!

On July 9, 2009 Bradley and I celebrated our 4th anniversary. We are trying to save every penny to buy a house so we celebrated our anniversary Recession style. We bunked-up on our couch and watched our wedding video while pigging out on our favorite pizza. I know that I know that I know we our soul mates for many reasons, but a very big one is our passion for pepperoni, mushroom, and black olive pizza.

July 9, 2005 - One of the best days of our lives

Brad broke the rule of 'no presents' and sent these beautiful flowers to my office. I'm glad he broke the rules : )

A taste of Texas - and adorable mascots

Last weekend Brad and I went to the Astros minor league game for the 4th of July. I'm finally getting to this because I've been so busy with laying around and sleeping ; ) Brad and I loved going to Rangers games in TX, so we had a blast watching the game and fireworks without the TX heat! I was equally entertained by the cute mascots, seriously, check out "Tex" dancing to Rocky Top. (Side note: I posted this blog post and went back to see if the video at the bottom worked. I had no idea that it would work so well that you can hear me singing. FYI, I have a horrible voice and yes I'm singing "Rocky Top will always be, home sweet home to me." Please don't be offended NM mom and TX mom)

I tried so hard to get Brad to take a picture with the mascot Tex. A little fact about Brad...he does NOT like to cooperate. I just know my future children will inherit this trait.

I caught Tex and Tess smoochin'. I like to think they are the cartoon looking version of Brad and I.

Dallas wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July, even if it is a week late.

Don't be shy

I'm fairly certain than only my Mom is following the blog at this point. If you are not my Mom and you are reading this, I would love to hear from you (I still want to hear from you too Mom). Feel free to leave me a comment...it just might make my day! I am really really really missing our family and friends. I would hop on a plane right now and come visit you if I had any darn vacation days....grrrrrrrrrrr.

God Bless America!

Happy 4th of July! Once again, I cannot take credit for this interesting yard art display (click on the pic for a larger view). This is the same resident that had the one-of-a-kind Easter display. I can just imagine how great Christmas is going to be! I just love the Independence Day scarecrow...or is that Uncle Sam?

Brad and I wish we could be spending the day with our family and old friends. To try and make up for it, we are having smoked ribs, potato salad, and lots of watermelon...and some apple pie with homemade ice cream. We are going to an Astro's baseball game tonight. Not the Houston Astro's - the Greeneville Astros. They're one of the farm teams for the Houston Astros.

I can't help but rub this in Texas friends, the high in Keller, TX is 100 degrees today. The high in Greeneville, TN is a beautiful 84 degrees! Ha....I love it!

Say What?

Maybe you could say I'm just a tad nosey. There is a little bit of that in all of us, like when you're sitting in the airport or a restaurant and overhear an interesting conversation. I am finding the conversations I overhear in this part of the country are especially unique. Sometimes I'll even butt into the conversation to instigate a little. I'll stop keeping them to myself and share these gems.

This was a conversation I overheard in the waiting room at the doctor's office. This was between a man that we'll call "Rebel" (his entire back was covered with a rebel flag tattoo, which I could see through the large arm holes in his muscle shirt....nice) and a woman that we'll call Jane (she was normal). These two did not know each other prior to the waiting room.

Rebel: My wife is having lots of weird cravins'.
Jane: Oh really? Like what?
Rebel: .........but that's nothin' compared to the cravins' my momma had when she was pregnant with me.
Me: Ooooo, do tell!
Rebel: When she was pregnant with me, she craved dirt.
Jane & Me: WHAT?
Rebel: Yeah, she would go outside and sift the dirt so she wouldn't chew on no rocks. That's all she wanted to eat....dirt.
